IULIA VIRGINIA IANCU, PhD

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCHER II

IULIA VIRGINIA IANCU is scientific researcher II at Molecular Virology Department. Expertise area includes basic research regarding epigenetic and genetic modifications in oncogenesis and viral infections.

Research interests: (1) Investigation of non-coding RNAs species involvement in oncogenesis particularly in HPV-induced cervical cancer; (2) Exploring the effect of hrHPV viral oncogenes upon some cellular targets using RNA-interference; (3) Study of altered methylation patterns in cancer.

Additional research interests are: study of exosomes as suitable candidates for biomarker discovery in different pathologies; mechanisms and strategies in pathogen control (for SARS-CoV-2 infection sequencing the circulating variants) and epigenetic modifications influencing COVID-19 pathogenesis.
