BSL3 Lab

The Biosafety level 3 (BSL3) lab offer the capabilities to handle highly pathogenic agents that can be spread through the air or cause severe illness, such as SARS-CoV-1, MERS-CoV, West Nile virus, and SARS-CoV-2. It was established in 2015 and boasts advanced technology, including controlled negative pressure, HEPA filtration to purify exhaust air, and an autoclave for disposing of waste. Access to the lab is restricted to trained personnel via magnetic interlock doors with PIN codes, and researchers performing infection experiments must wear white coveralls, gloves, and respiratory and eye protection.
